Advocating for Equal Human Rights, Social Justice, and the Democratic Empowerment of Marginalized Communities in Pakistan.

The Roshni Project is the second phase of Samaritan’s Fellowship Foundation’s Sustainable Livelihood Development Program, designed to transform lives through microfinance, enterprise creation, and dignity-based self-reliance.

At SFF, we believe that true freedom and empowerment begin when individuals earn with dignity. Through interest-free microloans and women-led home enterprises, the Roshni Project supports families across Pakistan to break free from poverty and step into a brighter, independent future.

From roadside stalls to home-based boutiques, from small grocery shops to handmade crafts, and from dairy and poultry businesses to creative product lines — Roshni is igniting entrepreneurship in every corner of Pakistan.

Background and Rationale:

In many parts of Pakistan, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, poverty and unemployment limit people’s potential. Women, in particular, face social and cultural barriers that prevent them from working outside their homes.

SFF identified that a small financial push and community trust can create a lasting change. By providing interest-free microloans to skilled individuals and women entrepreneurs, SFF enables families to launch or expand their small businesses — ensuring long-term sustainability instead of short-term charity.

This model not only uplifts families financially but also strengthens local economies, restores human dignity, and contributes to Pakistan’s social and economic resilience.

Project Description and Model:

1. Microfinance Empowerment

Under SFF’s Microfinance for Empowerment Program, families receive small, interest-free loans that enable them to start or expand local businesses.
These include:

  • Small grocery shops and street stalls (thailay)
  • Barber shops and tailoring units
  • Dairy farming (buying and raising buffaloes for milk production)
  • Poultry farming (raising hens for egg sales)
  • Beauty parlours and home-based salons for women
  • Juice corners and fruit stalls
  • Bicycle-based mobile vendors
  • Home stitching and embroidery businesses

Beneficiaries repay the loans through easy monthly installments, allowing the fund to revolve and benefit other families in need.

2. Women-Led Enterprises: The Roshni Model

The Roshni Project was born from the success of women who wanted to earn from home without compromising their safety, dignity, or family responsibilities.

Through this initiative, women across Pakistan now produce high-quality handmade products including:

  • Christmas ornaments
  • Handmade greeting cards
  • Kitchen décor and home items
  • Organic soaps and candles
  • Handwoven dariyas (rugs) and embroidery work
  • Gift items and seasonal crafts

These products are sold both in local markets and on SFF’s official online store: www.sffp.org.pk.
All profits directly go to the women producers, empowering them to sustain their livelihoods independently.

Impact Stories and Community Transformation:

The results of the Roshni Project have been inspiring:

  • Women are earning from their homes without facing workplace exploitation or social pressure.
  • Families are financially stable — paying household bills, purchasing food, affording healthcare, and sending their children to school.
  • Elderly parents are cared for, and family values are strengthened as multiple generations work together at home.
  • Men and youth running their own small ventures are contributing positively to local economic growth.

Through microfinance and skill-based independence, SFF has helped thousands of families move from poverty to prosperity — restoring hope, dignity, and purpose.

Implementation Strategy:

  1. Community Identification and Outreach: Field teams identify potential beneficiaries through local networks and SFF’s regional offices.
  2. Assessment and Selection: Applications are screened based on need, feasibility, and skill level.
  3. Loan Distribution: Small, interest-free loans are disbursed to approved candidates for specific business plans.
  4. Monitoring and Mentorship: Beneficiaries receive ongoing guidance, financial literacy training, and moral support.
  5. Market Linkages: SFF assists in connecting producers with local buyers and digital marketplaces.
  6. Loan Recovery and Revolving Fund: Repaid funds are reused to support new applicants — creating a sustainable empowerment cycle.

Expected Outcomes:

  • 1,000+ micro-enterprises are launched annually across Pakistan.
  • Women’s economic inclusion strengthened through home-based enterprises.
  • Household income increased by 40–60% among beneficiaries.
  • Revolving microloan fund ensures continuous community support.
  • Enhanced social stability through reduced unemployment and poverty.

Sustainability and Long-Term Vision:

The Roshni Project is self-sustaining through its revolving loan system and product-based income model.
Every rupee repaid is reinvested to empower another family — ensuring that the chain of hope and opportunity never ends.

Our long-term vision is a financially independent Pakistan, where marginalized families are not dependent on aid but contribute meaningfully to society through enterprise and hard work.

Conclusion:

Through Roshni, Samaritan’s Fellowship Foundation is illuminating homes, hearts, and futures.
From women crafting handmade products to young men running street businesses, every microloan tells a story of courage and transformation.

We envision a Pakistan where no one is left behind — where every woman can earn with dignity, every man can work with pride, and every family can live with hope.
